Aadhaar card is an important document in our country. Mostly it is demanded as an identity card. Earlier it was a paper card but now your Aadhaar card has changed. UIDAI has informed that Aadhaar card can now be reprinted on Polyvinyl Chloride Card (PVC). This card will fit in your wallet just like your ATM or debit card. Plus, you'll be getting rid of clutter you don't need. UIDAI has informed this in a tweet.

As stated in this tweet, anyone can order their base PVC card. It is durable, attractive in appearance and equipped with the latest security features. Its security features will include hologram, gilloch pattern, ghost image and microtext.


A fee of Rs 50 has to be paid

Polyvinyl chloride cards are known as PVC cards. It is a type of plastic card on which Aadhaar card information is printed. You will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to make this card.

How to make PVC base card?

  • For this you have to apply online on UIDAI website.
  • Go to 'My Aadhaar' section on this website and click on 'Order Aadhaar PVC Card'.
  • You will then need to enter your Aadhaar 12 digit number or 16 digit virtual ID or 28 digit Aadhaar Enrollment ID (EID).
  • Then you have to fill in the security code or captcha.
  • Click on Send OTP for OTP.
  • Then fill in the space provided and submit the OTP received on the registered mobile.
  • A preview of your Aadhaar PVC card will be in front of you after submission.
  • Then you have to click on the payment option given below. You will then be sent to a payment page. You have to pay a fee of Rs 50 here.
  • After completing the payment, your Aadhaar PVC card order process will be completed.

Support to 125 crore people in the country

According to figures released by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in December 2019, Aadhaar cards have been created for 125 crore citizens living in the country. The Aadhaar project was implemented in the country in 2010.


The Aadhaar card is one of the most important documents in today's world. Most work cannot be done without it. Everywhere you are asked for Aadhaar card. This situation can lead to many problems if your card is damaged or lost.

But now the Aadhaar card will be seen in a new incarnation. Now it will be an ATM card and you don't even have to laminate it separately. UIDAI tweeted that Aadhaar card can now be reprinted on PVC card. This card will easily fit in the wallet just like an ATM or debit card.

UIDAI tweeted that your Aadhaar card will now be in a convenient size. Which you can easily keep in your wallet. However, you will have to spend Rs 50 for this. This card is attractive and durable. It is equipped with the latest security features. Security features will include hologram, gilloch pattern, ghost image and microtext. Aadhaar PVC cards can now be ordered online.

How to Request for Aadhaar PVC Card at residentpvc.uidai.gov.in

  1. First visit https://uidai.gov.in or https://resident.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Click on ‘Order Aadhaar Card‘ service. [Direct Link]
  3. Enter your 10-digit Aadhaar number (UID) or 16-digit Virtual Identification Number (VID) or 28-digit enrollment ID.
  4. Note the security code.
  5. Select the option of registered number to get OTP. If the mobile number is not registered, fill in the optional number if available.
  6. Click on ‘Send OTP’.
  7. Tick ‘Terms and Conditions’ after approval. (Note: Click on the hyperlink and see the details)
  8. Click ‘Submit’ after completing the ‘OTP’ verification process.
  9. After clicking on ‘Make payment’, you will be taken to the payment gateway, where you will get the option of Credit / Debit Card, Net Banking and UPI.
  10. Receipt of payment will be successful, it will have digital signature on it. You will get the service request number on SMS. You can use this number to track the process until the card is delivered.

Important Notes for Request Aadhaar PVC Card

  1. Order Aadhaar card by paying Rs 50/-(inclusive of GST & Speed post charges)
  2. Use your Aadhaar Number/Virtual Identification Number/EID to order Aadhaar card.
  3. Aadhaar card comes with security features i.e. Digitally signed Secure QR code, Hologram, Ghost image, Guilloche pattern etc.

What are the different forms of Aadhaar and what are their features?

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced various forms of Aadhaar from time to time for the convenience of residents:

Aadhaar Letter: Paper-based laminated letter with secure QR Code with Issue Date and Print Date. Aadhaar letter is sent to resident free of cost by ordinary post in case of new enrolment or mandatory biometric update. If the Aadhaar letter is lost or destroyed, the resident can order a reprint online at a cost of Rs. 50/- from UIDAI’s official website. Reprinted Aadhaar letter is delivered to the resident by speed post.

eAadhaar: eAadhaar is the electronic form of Aadhaar, digitally signed by UIDAI, having QR code for offline verification with Issue Date and Download Date. Resident can easily download eAadhaar/masked eAadhaar from UIDAI’s official website using registered mobile number. The masked eAadhaar displays only last 4 digits of Aadhaar number. eAadhaar is generated automatically with every Aadhaar enrolment or update and it can be downloaded free of cost.

mAadhaar: mAadhaar is digital form of Aadhaar which can be installed on mobile device. mAadhaar app is available on Google play store/iOS for downloading on resident’s mobile device. It has QR code for offline verification. Like eAadhaar, mAadhaar is also generated automatically with every Aadhaar enrolment or update and it can be downloaded free of cost.

Aadhaar PVC Card: Aadhaar PVC Card is the latest form of Aadhaar introduced by UIDAI. Other than being easy to carry and durable, the PVC-based Aadhaar Card has a digitally signed secure QR code with photograph and demographic details with multiple security features. It can be ordered online through uidai.gov.in or resident.uidai.gov.in using Aadhaar number, Virtual ID or Enrolment ID and paying a nominal charge of Rs. 50/-. Aadhaar PVC Card is delivered to the resident’s address by speed post.

Can I choose to have and use any form of Aadhaar?

Yes. The residents can choose to have one or more forms of Aadhaar. The residents may also choose to use any form of Aadhaar as per their convenience. All forms of Aadhaar are equally valid as a proof of identity without giving any preference to one form of Aadhaar over the others.

What is “Order Aadhaar Card” service?

“Order Aadhaar Card” is a new service launched by UIDAI which facilitates the Aadhaar holder to get their Aadhaar details printed on PVC card by paying nominal charges. Residents who do not have registered mobile number can also order using Non-Registered /Alternate Mobile Number.
